THE ORIGINAL ANDREWS SISTERS
1940's, wartime, The Andrews Sisters were America's most popular female singing group. Patty Andrews, the youngest of the group with her strong vocals, energy & comedy, gave the group versatility. Maxine Andrews, the middle sister with her harmonic range gave the impression of four vocals instead of three. La-Verne Andrews, the eldest of the group, had a keen eye for fashion & a witty sense of humor. The girls acted in movies & broadway, performed on radio series & commercials. The sisters made their first hit song with "Bei mir bist du schon" which sold 350,000 copies, the song held no'1 position for 5 weeks.
During the Andrews Sisters career, they sold over 90 million records, recorded around 700 songs, earned 9 gold records and appeared in 17 Hollywood movies!
The girls still remain one of the best selling female groups of all time.
WW11 was a dark period, The Andrews Sisters brought laughter & happiness for many people. They participated in an 8 week USO tour & performed for thousands of servicemen.
The sisters were very active in their patriotic duty of wartime entertainment. They volunteered their free time & sang, danced & signed autographs for the troupes.
WE TRIBUTE THE ANDREWS SISTERS
Linda, Jennie & Yvette pay tribute to The Andrews Sisters.
Linda was asked to be part of a show to pay tribute to The Andrews Sisters for a Conference in Darwin in 1995. While we had heard of those famous songs such as "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" " Don't sit under the apple tree" "In the mood" "Apple blossom time" etc.. it wasn't until rehearsal for the show that they fully appreciated the intricate harmonies of the Andrews Sisters.
In the Northern Territory and Queensland our audiences were captivated by our portrayal of the original group.
Linda has now teamed up with the incredible talents of Jennie & Yvette, their warm rich vocals will stun you.
Make this superb vocal group a part of your next function/conference to add that extra professional touch.
Audiences will be transported back in time to a unique era of wartime romance during a fourty minute show and the guests can have photos taken with the girls as they mingle amongst the tables after the show.
Its always a favorite to look back and remember a fabulous night had by all!
